Our shoes are wider and deeper
Because our shoes are wider and deeper it may mean that you come down a size compared to the shoes you have been wearing. This is quite common and it is because our shoes are wider, so your feet have more space and don’t need the extra length. Please use the Fit Finder to help you choose your size and fitting.
The Fit Finder gives a good indication of your size and fit in our shoes but can never be 100% accurate because all our feet are different. If at any stage you are unsure and need help, please ring our friendly customer services team on 01933 311077 (Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm). We have different toe shapes, different foot arches and medical conditions from swelling to bunions and hammer toes to name a few differences. All of these affect the fitting of the shoe.
When you receive your shoes try them on a surface that will not mark them (in case you have to return them) to check for size and fit. If the fit is not as you would like and you are unsure as to how to proceed and would like further help please ring our friendly customer services team on 01933 311077 (Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm) to discuss your needs. It is so much easier for our customer services team to help once you have tried on our shoes, as we have a starting point from which to move forward.
Remember, there is no further postage cost for you. We offer FREE postage on returns and exchanges* until we get it right.

Did you also know that VAT exemption is also available on our 6V fittings for certain medical conditions. Your medical advisor can advise you or follow Reliefs from VAT for disabled and older people (VAT Notice 701/7) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) for further information.
Variable fitting shoes
Because all our feet are different in shape and size and also the left foot can be different in shape and size to the right foot, we have made our shoe designs as versatile as possible so that you can adapt them to get the “perfect fit” for your feet whatever time of day. The features built into our shoes that give you this adaptability are:
• Removable insoles.
Most of our shoes have either one or two removable insoles. Removing insoles increases the space in the shoe giving more room for your feet. This is especially helpful if you have one foot larger than the other or your feet swell during the day.
• Extended straps with cut off sections*.
When we make our shoes we do not know the needs of the final wearer. Some people need a longer strap than others. Our solution is to provide the shoe with an “extended strap” with cut off sections so that the wearer can decide on the correct length strap for his / her needs.
*Please note, once strap is cut the shoe cannot be returned.
Some of our shoes are made from “stretch materials” which automatically adjust to the foot shape of the wearer or gently expands as the foot swells during the day.
Useful Tips When Purchasing Shoes Online
• Use our Fit Finder to find your size and fitting in our shoes.
• Look at your foot shape and compare with the toe shape of the shoe to establish which toe shape is best suited to your feet.
It is essential that a shoe allows a foot to function properly. In trying to achieve this, simply considering the stated width of a shoe is not enough as the footwear must also feature a toe box wide and deep enough to allow for ample room for the toes.

• Consider other aspects of your feet. For instance do you have a high instep or do your feet swell during the day? If so look for an upper design that adjusts to accommodate these needs.
If, at any stage during the process of finding the correct shoe for you, you are unsure as to how to proceed and would like further help please ring our friendly customer services team on 01933 311077 (Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm) to discuss your needs.
Check for fit at home
When your shoes arrive, follow these instructions to check the fit:
• Try the shoes on a surface that will not mark them (in case you have to return them) to check the size and fit. If marked the shoes cannot be returned for an exchange or refund as they have been worn.
• Feet change shape during the day. Try your shoes on in the afternoon ideally as that is when feet are larger. It is better to have a slightly looser shoe than one that is too tight as wearing thicker socks, adding an insole etc can take up the extra space but wearing a shoe that is too tight will only cause pain and discomfort.
• Wear your usual socks or hosiery that you would wear for this type of shoe. This is important as different thicknesses of socks/hosiery will change the volume of your foot. For example if you wear tights when trying a shoe on, but then go on to wear thick socks when wearing the shoe outside the chances are that the shoe will feel tight. The shoes cannot then be returned for an exchange or refund as the shoes will be marked.
• Try both shoes on, fastening comfortably and securely.
• Stand with your weight evenly distributed.
• Check that you can wiggle your toes and you can’t feel any pressure points of pinching of your feet.
• Go for a walk (inside on a surface that will not mark them) to check that the shoes are not slipping and that they feel comfortable whilst walking.
• If the shoes do not fit and you are unsure as to how best to proceed please please ring our friendly customer services team on 01933 311077 (Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm) who will advise further.
• Remember you can exchange for the correct size/fitting without any further postage costs using our FREE* postage service
Customer care is the focus of your business - along with beautifully made footwear. My podiatrist recommended you many years ago and I am delighted to have followed her advice.
Miss K
I bought three pairs of shoes from you recently and they are all excellent. I am really pleased, delighted in fact. They fit perfectly and are very well made. I have struggled to find a decent pair of wide-fit shoes for ages... thank you very much. I will definitely be buying more!
Mr M
I just wanted to pass on my thanks to you. I've put up with badly fitting footwear all of my life, but now my feet are comfy in shoes bought from you (size 4, 6E - I never knew such wid fittings existed before and thought I was a size 5!). Looking forward to buying more in the future.
