VAT Exemption
CLAIMING VAT RELIEF
Individuals who are chronically sick or disabled can claim VAT relief on certain products.
The 6E, 6V and 8E fitting footwear available from this website are VAT exempt provided you meet the criteria laid out by the VAT office.
To qualify for VAT relief you must:
– Have a physical or mental impairment that has a long-term effect on your ability to carry out everyday activities
– Have a medical condition that doctors treat as a chronic sickness (like diabetes for example)
– Temporary injuries such as a broken leg would not qualify, nor would a person with an extremely wide foot who has no medical conditions or physical impairments.
The products that qualify for VAT exemption have to be for your own use, or if you are purchasing them on behalf of someone else then that person must qualify for VAT exemption and the products have to be for their sole use.
Please note that there are penalties for making false declarations. If you are in doubt as to whether you are eligible to receive goods zero rated for VAT you should consult notice 701/7 VAT relief for disabled people or contact the National Advice Service on 01300 123 1073 or consult with your medical advisor before confirming this declaration. We are not able to give a medical opinion.
VAT relief is not available on E, EE, 2V and 4E fitting footwear, even if you qualify as these products do not qualify for VAT exemption.
By claiming VAT relief you are agreeing to these terms and conditions and that you are claiming relief from Value Added Tax under Group 12 of Schedule 8 to the Value Added Tax Act of 1994.
You can claim VAT exemption prices within our website by clicking on the VAT Exempt icon whenever you select a fitting that is VAT exempt or click on the link “Your basket contains VAT exempt items. Do you qualify for VAT exemption?” within the Basket.
Alternatively you can download the VAT Exemption Form and send it back to us if you prefer to place your orders via telephone or post.
