Unfortunately I have arthritic and other problems with my feet. The NHS fit rockers which enable me to walk so I was not able to test the shoes out on pavement. I find the leather very hard around the toe area and no amount of Dubbin or foam to soften toe impact on the leather works. Sadly I cannot wear the shoes so the review is negative for me. It is too late to return them now the rockers are fitted.

The shoes batches tend to vary a bit in size. The leather quality could be better. It tends to peel and scuff easily. The shoes need to be polished after each wear to remain smart. *I do a lot of walking.The soles support at first but tend to go soft after about 3/4 months. Heels wear down quickly too. I would prefer the toe area a bit wider as I have neuromas where my toes need to spread. Of all the shoes I have tried these are the best for me.

Would have perhaps liked velcro instead of lace-ups for ease of changing, but the velcro version didn’t give as sound a fit as these do. Laces have been durable so far, no fraying.

I have always bought my wider for shoes thinking they were made in the uk, but found this pair was made in India,
The soles are different and my I usual impression was that they would be slippery. This is not the case although they click up a thin layer of dust.
I have also found that the shoes marked heavily from wet and left a strong white 'Hussein's which was difficult to polish out. In the past I have worn my shoes until the soles have out, I hope the leather does not turn out to be of a reduced quality so that it deteriorates first.

I suffer from bunions on both feet and have a couple of hammer toes too. Surgery isn't an option at present so finding some shoes that fit and are comfortable all day long is a God send. They really are excellent both in quality and extreme comfort. I only dropped one star in the fit rating as I ordered a size 7 but think a 6 & 1/2 would have been more suited, however I’ve got used to walking in a looser shoe and this isn’t a problem at all. I got an excellent sale price with these and wish I’d bought two pairs now.

I am so happy to have found Wider fit shoes. I have bunions on both feet and even though I try to get wide shoes, I have never found a smart pair which doesn't end up squashing my feet and causing problems. For example, I recently developed a painful lump on the sole of my foot. These shoes are perfect- they're real leather, nice and deep as well as wide so I can wear my orthotics, they look smart without being frumpy and are really comfortable.
