These shoes provide excellent support for the foot and the ankle and good room for toe comfort. I am usually a size 5 but currently have a toe problem which requires my toes to have more box room. I also wear an orthotic which is reasonably thick. The removable insert in this boot is quite thin but the extra half size added to the 2E fitting means the boot has been a perfect fit from day one. There have been no wearing in issues. The supple leather flap doesn't cut into the front of my ankle whilst the shoe holds my foot firmly. Have worn them in the rain and when walking on wet grass and they keep my feet dry. They are now my first choice of footwear for wearing outside the house. Delighted with my purchase. My feet and toes thank you.

Since I had unsuccessful spinal surgery, I have had a problem with a dropped foot, and my left foot is permanently swollen. Even wide fitting shoes up to 3EEE, are not wide enough. My sister told me about Wider Fit Shoes and I placed an order for shoes with a width fitting 4EEEE. They were not wide enough, so I returned them and asked for an exchange for a shoe width of 6EEEEEE. When they arrived, these too were not wide enough. I rang customer services to apologise that I would need to return them and to ask if I could exchange them again, this time for ankle boots. The person I spoke to told me that there was no problem returning them again and assured me that their prime concern was that I received a product that fitted correctly and that I was completely satisfied with. There was only one ankle boot available in 8EEEEEEEE fitting, and that was the Doris boot. I ordered them and was really pleased with the fit and surprised that despite being such a wide fitting, they didn't look any different to a standard fit. They looked really stylish too. They are not cheap, but are affordable and if you have a disability that means you cannot purchase standard shoes from the high street, you are exempt from VAT, so you can deduct 20% from the catalogue price. That’s a significant saving. The boots are of excellent quality too. I was able to return the other two items for exchange completely free of postage charges. I am so pleased to have found a company that caters for my width size and that delivers such excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend them.

The 4E size is becoming rarer in the catalogue and this is the most comfortable boot and size. I wear them a lot in the Winter. Unless you actually paddle in a puddle they keep you warm and dry. I took a pair to Japan in January last year and walked everywhere in them and they stood up to snow, rain and sun and walking miles each day.

These are the best and most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They were recommended to me by the hospital adter an ankle operation caused my foot to tilt and I was in extreme pain. My feet are also extremely wide and to accomodate this in the past I have always had to go up a size or 2 in shoes - not any more!
The comfort and support have been a revelation and I only wish I had bought your shoes years ago.
After a very small issue with one of my shoes customer service responded rapidly and sorted it out immediately.

This is the third pair of these shoes I've bought over the last few years and they are a delight. I have very wide feet and most shoes have to be 'worn In' by wearing them for a few hours each day until they've stretched enough to stop being painful. Quite often I give up before reaching that stage and have a heap of unwearable shoes in a cupboard. These shoes are different. I can take them out of the box and wear them all day painfree sraightaway. Luckily boots are quite fashionable at the moment so they look quite acceptable too.

Delighted with my new boots, Excellent quality and materials. I can wear them all day in comfort and actually forgot to take them off when I got home after shopping, only noticing at bedtime! They don't rub, and my toes have room to move which has been a problem with other manufacturers in the past.
One very small point is that I have to get used to doing them up more around my ankle than I've been used to, but I am happy to learn.
All in all I am delighted and happily recommend these boots and look forward to many years of comfort..

I particularly wanted chestnut coloured boots to wear with jeans so took advantage of the sale offer in my size and fitting. The colour is perfect, not too bright, and the leather lovely, good quality, excellent workmanship. However, the toe area is shorter and narrower than other boots and shoes I have previously had from DB in the same fitting (7 in 4E). I have ingrowing, upward growing toenails and I try to find footwear with a squarer toe than these Doris boots which are more of an oval. I also have high foot arches and the strap over the instep is a bit short. I nearly sent them back but they do look nice and are not actually uncomfortable, but I wont wear them if I will be on my feet for hours. Also, my feet get hot so I am not keen on boots having textile linings, which all DB boots seem to have now. Could we have some leather lined ones please and could we have the Foxton boots, which are lovely, in this chestnut colour please.

Good to have waterproof footwear for the winter after having surgery on my already very wide right foot. I do have a slight struggle to get my right foot into the boot initially, then the width once in is fine. I have had to take out the insoles in the right boot, and of course, having such odd feet, have had to pad out the left foot with more insoles. The length is correct, size 4.
The surgery has meant I can walk without pain, and I will always have to rely on you for the fit of shoes as I can find none in ordinary shoe shops to accommodate the width necessary for my right foot.
I am mobile again, hurray!

Very comforatble boot with highly flexible sole, which makes them great for driving in too. Huge amount of adjustment given the velcro fastening and extra insole inserts. Only downside was that I find the leather insoles to be a bit slippery (when wearing with socks), and this caused my foot to slide forward inside the shoe slightly. Solved the problem by using a cotton topped insert instead, but would have preferred to use the leather ones if they hadn't been too smooth.

Your star system is not easy to operate!! I liked the boot it is much easier to put on (with help still) than having to zip them up. However, they are a tiny bit too big, and when I put my orthopeadic insole in to make them fit better, the left foot toes (which are hammer toes, as are the right foot toes), in particular started rubbing, and I couldn't wait to get the boots off as my toes became sore. It is the depth of the toe part that is not quite right, the length of the boot is fine. Without the added insole my foot was sliding up and down a bit. I don't think you do half sizes. My foot was measured using your chart by a Podiatrist!

Worried at first about ordering from DB shoes as I have never really had wide feet...and my foot is actually quite narrow at the ankle and across the arch. However, I have a large bunion on my right foot especially and now take size 9 shoes too...so finding a good fit is not easy! These shoes have plenty of room across the widest part of my foot and good depth so I can use my insoles...and because the velcro fasten was long, I can pull the shoe tightly across my arch at the top...so they fit. Beautiful quality and leather. I love many of the styles in the catalogue...and am sure will be back for another pair...but PLEASE do the new V width shoes in size 9. (Particularly like the Fearn boot and that would tighten up across my arch nicely....) Thank you!

I ordered the Doris ankle boot in a sale and got it for a great price. I am very pleased with the boots, I can easily fit my orthotic inside and they are extremely easy to put on. They really open up so its not a problem to get on or off or take orthotic out if need be.

Following a medical flap, metal plates and a skin graph and months of treatment and hospital stays I have reached the point of walking again unaided. I got them to help with a very painful big toe, and although the fit is very generous over the arch and too roomy for me, I wear socks and they're fantastically comfortable, easy peasy to get on because they open right out at the front and make walking pain free as far as my feet are concerned. I use a walking stick and these boots also give me extra confidence that I won't slip. Expensive, but I hope to get years of wear out of them. Highly recommended without hesitation.

A nice-looking shoe and generally I'm pleased. It's lovely to find shoes I can actually get my feet into! Unfortunately, I seem to fall between two sizes so it's a little roomy! However, it's the first time I've ordered so can hopefully refine my combination of width and length. Couldn't get the size chart to print out correctly on my printer, which didn't help. Maybe including a size chart when you post the shoes would help....
One feature I'm not so keen on in the slight gapping on each side of the tongue, below the velcro strap, when I'm wearing the shoe, but otherwise, I love the colour, and they are very comfortable.

It is very comfortable but unfortunately I find I can not wear them for a whole day as the fastening strap, no matter how loosely worn, is placed too far up my ankle and begins to dig in after a while. The fit round the ankle is not ideal. Where the strap and Velcro meet the angle is not right - which was the same as on a previous pair with a different style. I was disappointed that the sole was not as thick as the pair of shoes I had in the summer. Too much room in the heel area too. My feet are just wide at the toe/ball of the foot, and don't have medical issues which require the back to be wide too. Even with the orthotic they are too roomy. But the toes are singing!

Although the boot is adequate at the widest part of my left foot, (I have to wear FarrowWraps on my left leg as a treatment for lymphoedema) it is not wide enough at the point where the stitching is, due to the wraps. A wider shoe is not an option as I do not have to wear wraps on my right leg, and I already need a thick silicone insole to stop the boot falling off, as my normal shoe size is 8.5E. I have had to use a men's shoe stretcher to make the left boot comfortable, but would say that the quality of the boots is otherwise excellent.

the style is great & for everyday walking, I have very wide feet, if there were 9E shoes that would be even better again, but because the 8E fit shoes are in the stretch material my toes are not getting squashed! I spent ages looking for shoes that fit properly, now I don't have to travel to lots of shops, so the value for money is great. I use the extra insoles because my feet got a bit cold but the shoes still fit because of the depth & width and seem very hard-wearing

I have worn 'Doris' non-stop as following an op on my little toe, these so far are all I can wear. They are extremely comfortable and have enabled me to get out walking again. I really am grateful for that.
I have a wide small foot normally and would definitely buy wider fit shoes again as I don't feel frumpy wearing them, they have some good styles.

I love these boots! The fit was a little longer than I expected so I first ordered a half size too big. The return process was easy and the new pair, which I ordered smaller but wider for my orthotics, fit perfectly. I love that it's easy to take out the insole to make more room for orthotics, and sometimes I put the insoles back and wear them without orthotics, as well. They are amazingly comfortable. I'm keeping them for 'best' so I can't comment on the wear yet, but they are still looking great after a few outings.

A very comfortable boot. So glad I found the 6 deep toe box fitting, I was beginning to despair of ever walking comfortably again. This was a replacement for a pair bought about 7 years ago. The leather is beautifully soft. The size wasn't in stock and I expected to wait a couple of months but no, it was delivered within a couple of weeks. Customer service was very pleasant and efficient. My rating on price is really a reflection that being a pensioner, it's a lot to pay. But the boots, which do NOT look clumpy or 'special', literally have stood me in good stead. Thank you.

I have bought both the brown and black versions. My orthotist has removed the insoles and replaced them with my specials. They are wide, easy access for your foot and the leather is soft enough for stretching if needed. They are the most comfortable boot I have to date except for my sheepskins. My feet will never fit in any shoe with comfort 100% because of dis figuration and multiple surgeries, however I recommend these highly and that's saying something. Getting vat taken off by the company is also an added +. Wider fit shoes try to bring fairly looking 'normal' footwear for those of us who have great problems. I'm hoping the summer catalogue brings some daintyish summer wear.

I only had a pair of open toe sandles, my first choice of boot didn't fit so I returned them without any difficulty, and with the help of an adviser I got the right boots for me. Great quality boots and comfortable to wear. Following a twisted ankle and consequent swollen foot it was impossible for me to get any of my shoes on but these boots proved a godsend. Because of the deeper toe box and the padded ankle they made it possible not only for me to get around but also supported my ankle during the healing process. The leather is soft and supple, they needed no 'wearing in' and are blissfully comfortable. I am so impressed with the quality and comfort of the boots that I have subsequently purchased another different style and a pair of loafers both of which are equally good.

I like to call these "My Biker Boots"; not that I was ever a Biker in my youth. They definitely have street cred too! They are slightly wider in the foot than I expected but a thick pair of walking socks solves that problem. The fit and support at the heel is excellent and there is plenty of wiggle room for my toes. These boots are very comfortable to wear and I have no pain at all walking in them which is marvellous. Since being guided to buy "Wider Feet" shoes the pain and deformity in my feet has nearly gone. My bones are nearly in the correct position, my toes are straight rather than clenched and I have a proper instep again. It's a MIRACLE!!!
