This is my third pair of Nebraska boots. They are the only walking boots I have ever found that fit me very well and give enough support to my ankles without being too rigid. I do need to put extra insoles in as they are very deep but that is not a problem, I do seem to wear them down on one side of the heel because of the way I walk Which is why I have Only given them four stars for the performance and wear, however that is possibly due to the way I walk. And I got them in the sale which made them an absolute bargain thank you Wider Fit Shoes!

Wow, so happy with these boots, the option of 2 different insoles makes for a great fit and great comfort.
I've only worn them once on a walk so far, and had no rubbing or pinching. They look really good too, and I hD a couple of people asked where I got them from.
I've found with Wider Fit Shoes thee important thing is first finding your correct size, their detailed measuring guide is brilliant. I suffer with several problems from RA in my feet so it's important to get the fit right.
I now have several different styles of shoes, sandals and now boots in my wardrobe. Highly recommend this company.

When I bought these boots in the suede, I commented that it was a shame the last two fastenings were eyelets not hooks ( not sure of the technical term) and lo and behold, they now are which makes tightening the laces so much easier. The 6v is roomy and I have bought extra insoles but I was very happy to do that to have a comfortable waterproof pair of boots that are the right length for my extremely wide feet. Lots to say about these boots!
I have always had wide feet but age, weight gain and arthritis have meant I recently got to a point where not even Birkenstocks are completely comfortable. I walk a couple of hours almost every day over all sorts of ground and decent footwear is a must. I've tried pretty much every standard wide and extra wide shoe/boot available and none came close to fitting. I'm a size 4 and my feet are only wide across the ball of my foot. I also have a very high arch so the top of my foot is high and it's impossible to get anything shaped like a wellie on as my foot won't go round the "turn."
I tried these boots in desperation. I'm not happy paying thus much for any walking boots as they never last longer than the £30-£40 ones I used to be able to get from agriculture store, but found myself at a point where I have no choice.
Positives:
They're nice looking boots and are well made.
The padding and soft leather round the ankle meant that part was comfortable and fit well from the outset.
The sole is "grippy" and makes me feel secure on all sorts of surfaces.
They are perfect fit width wise across the widest part of my foot.
Negatives:
The leather is very soft and not as thick as any other walking boots I've ever had. I have my doubts about its durability.
Size 4 is more like a 5. Much too big length wise. They do have a 3 but I didn't have the time option to return for a smaller size. Even with thick socks, my feet slipped inside when walking and gave me large blisters. So I added Birkenstock insoles to the the 2 insoles provided with the boots. They weren't quite wide enough so I got blisters in a different place. I swapped the insoles round so the Birkenstock ones were sandwiched between the original ones. This was better but my feet still move inside the boots and I still get rubbed. The insoles provided are extremely smooth which isn't suitable for walking boots. The only insoles I can find which might be wide enough to fit cost over £30.
Lesson here is if you are bang on a standard size in length go a size down.
After 3-4 weeks of wear the mid-foot part of the boot seems to have stretched and gives no support. If I tighten the laces it puts pressure on my arthritic toe joint. This is the main issue I found when looking for ultra wide fit footwear....it's for people with large or swollen feet. Mine aren't. They are small and average size other than the ridiculously wide fore-foot area.
The sole is already starting to separate in one area on my slightly wider foot. £150 on sale for a walking boot that starts to deteriorate after a month is way too expensive.
Would I buy them knowing what I do now? I'm not sure. A size 3 might alleviate the slipping but wouldn't necessarily prevent rubbing due to smooth insoles (which are the only ones available from the seller). Durability Vs cost is the main issue for me. I'm in a no win situation when after many months of searching, these are the only boots wide enough for me.
I hope this information is helpful to someone who may be in a similar situation as myself.

This is a lovely boot. I usually have to buy men's boots so to have a women’s boot which is attractive and with such a good fit and comfort level is amazing. I haven’t tested the waterproof aspect yet but the grip in mud, leaves and slippery country roads and tracks is very reassuring. There’s something about the shape of the sole as well which seems to aid the foot motion and really allow a comfortable walk. When I chose the boot I thought it was a bit pricey but it seems to be excellent quality and considering my previous comments I now think it is great value and worth every penny.

They are of a high quality and are extremely comfortable. I am currently walking the North Downs Way and these boots give good support to my ankles when climbing up and down hills. They are warm and comfy despite trudging through lots of mud and water.

Unfortunately, when these boots were tested on their first very wet day they leaked. I contacted customer services who were fantasic. Purchased a week before my walking holiday n the Isle of Mull because my existing, gortex lined and vibram soled, walking boots had developed a creak. No matter what Idid this was getting worse with every wear. After wearing my new boots for all and every day for a week with no problem I set out for Mull hoping that they would be up to what I was about to put them through. I am pleased to say the boots performed well tramping through peat bog and across wet rock. There were no leaks, good grip and best of all no creaking! My only remaining question is how long will they last? However, branded walking boots vary in how long their waterproofing lasts and the soles wear so only time will tell.

I have spent years wearing walking boots or trainers too long for me in order to get the width. These boots are brilliant in terms of width with plenty of room to spare. They are indeed waterproof even when walking on the beach paddling at the seashore. My only very slight criticism is the lacing. It would be easier if the top two eyelets were hooks which would make it easier to lace up tightly. However, I am delighted with my purchase and with the company who appear to have excellent customer service and free returns, unlike some of their competitors!

I have all three colours, can happily wear them all day and go for a five mile walk. The shoes are wearing well, my only comment being leather may be more practical than the suede. The rubber sole wears out very quickly indeed in normal wear and the grip is lost. I have reported this before. I walk regularly but no long treks or extreme wear, only up to a maximum of 6 miles or so on pavements public footpaths. But the boots are very comfortable and really are waterproof as advertised. Since other boots don't fit, I don't have much choice.

I have a Morton's Neuroma on both feet, and found this a big problem when hiking. My podiatrist recommended that it would help by wearing wide fitting shoes.
I always found buying footwear difficult and already knew I had wide feet. Most high street shops don't cater for people like me.
There were many styles in the Wider Fit Shoes catalogue that I didn't like, but some of the more casual styles were ok, as well as these boots.
I was surprised to discover (after using the catalogue's fitting chart) that my feet were actually a size smaller than I've been wearing! Which makes sense because I'd previously had to compromise for my wide feet.
It was a leap of faith purchasing these boots because I always need to try things on.
As soon as I first put them on however, I knew I'd have no problems with these! I'm delighted with them. Apart from the fit etc. I also love the colour and design. I love the fact I can remove the inner soles to fit an orthotic sole if need be.
I'm intending to gradually replace all my footwear with shoes from Wider Fit Shoes.

My only criticism would be the way the laces fasten around the ankle. My last pair of walking boots had pegs that the lace wrapped around at the ankle. They were easier and quicker to lace up.
Initially the boots felt quite rigid on lacing up but are softening with wear. I have struggled to find a good walking boot as my feet are wide with a high instep. I like these boots and they are comfortable. Hopefully they will last a good while to make them value for money. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a waterproof, sturdy boot.

Having bought the walking shoes "version", I knew the fit and also the comfort, so I decided to buy these for winter. The boots did not disappoint. They are as comfortable as the shoes, and also have the same perfect fit. I look forward to wearing this coming winter.
The quality of the shoe appears to be very good, however, as I having only worn them in the house to try on, I don't know how the shoe actually performs when it is worn in "real conditions". I do find WFS expensive, however, I have always had to pay more for shoes because of my very hard to fit feet. And while I do have to return shoes at times because sometimes the same size in one make is not necessarily ok in another make. However, when I do find THAT pair of sandals/shoes/boots it is worth the extra money, having found a company where I know I will find very comfortable, good quality shoes.
If I was giving an overall rating to WFS, it would be a 4. This is because there have been times when the customer service has been lacking.

My podiatrist recommended Widerfitshoes, even Clarks shoes weren't wide enough with their EE fitting. I have mortons neuroma, bursitis and arthritis in both feet, a d also bunions. As my shies were so tight, I was getting corns on my little toes.

They arrived quickly, and on opening.g them was immediately impressed on how soft they felt but yet sturdy.
I removed the 2 insoles and inserted my 2 insoles. Perfect fit!
I am writing this review after wearing them for about a month or so. I wore them straight out of the box for a 10 hour shift at work, a lot of walking about on the shop floor. Obviously having the amount of pain in my feet, it wasn't going to feel better immediately, bit I can honestly say that there was no rubbing on any part of my foot or ankle and they felt really nice on.
A month later, they have moulded nicely to my feet and I'm 100% happy with them.
They are the widest fitting boot and I can say that they don't look like boats which is also what I was worried about.
Would I buy them again? Absolutely!
I'll be looking through the catalogue for going out shoes for my hols.

They give great support to both ankle and foot and because I can now get a wide fit pair I no longer get blisters after trekking for 10 to 15 miles at a time. At last a boot that is wide enough! Could be improved if laces were more easily adjustable - I find it difficult to open them as it seems the rings really grip the laces which is good for not slipping and loosening when walking but hard to get on and off. The soles are ok but not as grippy as the multi-cleated Vibram soles I am used to. Overall ecstatically happy with the fit but need longer to be sure. I will be surprised if they last as long as other walking boots due to the soles being less chunky.

I plan to wear my boots in cold weather so won't be wearing them until next winter. I normally wear Clarks shoes size 42E but to make them fit my right foot I have to use a thinner insole than the one provided. My right foot is significantly bigger than my left foot (size 41D). My size 42 2V Nebraska fits reasonably well with a very thick boot sock on my left foot plus the laces tied tightly and a medium thickness sock on my right foot (I have removed one of insoles from both boots). I'm hoping the rounded seam -free forefoot shape of Nebraska will mean the big toe on my right foot won't be too crushed or irritated; I think the ideal shoe shape for me might be the Birkenstock but I suspect their soles are not flexible enough. The Nebraska sole is more flexible than the usual hiking boot, which I like as I think it will feel safer on icy surfaces. I've guessed the ratings because it's too early to know for sure.

The toe box provides loads of room for my really wide toes - htough i've not quite settled on how many insoles gets the best fit, as they're still wearing in. I brought these boots as I have a very large bunion (shortly to be operated on. I also have torn tendons in my ankle so appreciate a good supportive boot. The support on these boots is very good. I did reconfigure the laces as they have an additional lacing point (the one on pale blue) which hurt my ankle but they work fine without it and are still supportive. The sole is sturdy enough for long walks on uneven ground. I like the fact that you can decide if you need more space with the removable insole. I brought a size larger than I would normally wear as I wanted to wear thick socks with mine. I love not having to walk with the pain of rubbing shoes. I'd recommend you try these as they are excellent walking boots

This is a sturdy boot but the fit wasn't right for me and I have sent them back. With 2 insoles they could be adjusted for width and so they were wide enough (my usual problem); but they rubbed uncomfortably at the ankle bone. My old boots (another make) have more padding around the ankle and indeed more padding generally.
Nebraska feel rather basic by comparison.
They feel clunky and heavy. Another point is that most walking boots have lace hooks at the ankle in place of the top 2 or 3 holes, so that laces can be finely adjusted. I found it tricky to adjust Nebraska , which has eyelets all the way up.

As I'm a size 6 I originally ordered a size 40 but it was too big. A quick phone call advised me to try a size 39, which was much better.
The right foot is a perfect fit.
The left foot however has caused blistering around the Achilles tendon area as it was too loose. I tried some stick-on grips from the chemist but they didn't help.
My podiatrist cut me two strips of thick felt for each side of the seam. For the last week, I've worn the boots for a few hours each day around the house, with walking socks and the felt strips but the Achilles tendon area still becomes red - but no blistering. I hope that over the next few weeks the left boot will maybe soften up and become more comfortable.
The boots are well made and of good quality otherwise.

I can fit my special insoles into them easily which was my main reason for getting them. I've just bought my second pair after having worn my last pair for a year of daily dog walking and longer coastal path walks. They have replaced my expensive walking boots as they're so much more comfortable, and with regular care, stay waterproof. I still wear my old ones but the grip is wearing out so I've replaced them for walks where I need a better gripping sole. good looking boots fit very well. Good to find boots with this wide fitting. My only problem with them has been that I find them a bit on the heavy side. But I do have bad arthritic problems which mean I like a slightly lighter weight boot. Like all boots I have purchased the laces are too short. If I am going to go for a five mile walk I want plenty of length in the laces so that I can do a big double knot. I do not want them coming undone and tripping me up.. The sole is brilliant at protecting the sole of your feet from stones etc.

I wore them last weekend on a litter pick over a very muddy area of open countryside and the boots were covered in wet mud right over the toes and up the sides of the boots but my feet stayed perfectly dry and I didn't slip once. I'd hesitated before spending so much on footwear but having put them to the test, I'm glad I did.

As they promised my dreams came true and my search ended when the 6V fitting in the walking boots made their debut in the catalogue and they immediately arrived at my door and went straight on my feet. I walked round my very uneven very wet and muddy field with my dog and what a joy, no blisters or sore feet just dry ones! My only criticism is the laces which do not pull through easily, but that was easily fixed by purchasing some 100% cotton boot laces off the internet and replacing them. Overall I found the boots were OK, given my Bunyan and the difficulties I have had finding other walking boots with a wide enough/comfortable fit. However, I have a few negative observations.
1. At the top of the boot, the final 3 eyelets for the laces make it difficult/fiddly to secure the boots sufficiently tight. Other walking boots I have had have a hook to wind round the laces for that final tightening. Those hooks are much better.
2. Although I have worn the boots for serious walking in the hills only twice, one of the laces is already fraying where it is threaded through one of the upper eyelets.
3. With previous wider shoe purchases from you, there has been an extra sole insert which can be removed to provide extra space. This is helpful where I have a sizeable Bunyan on only one foot. However, those inner soles have been of a spongy material which have worked well. With these boots, there were two of the same type of shiny plastic inner soles which give a sense of slipping when walking, which is strange.

This hiking shoe is the first one I found which does not create pain in my little toe bunion. The possibility to take out two insoles is really good to adjust it to your needs.
Otherwise, in comparison to other hiking boots I owned before, it is not the most comfortable otherwise. A little hard on the heel and also the tongue is a little crumbled and presses down in the foot. After a while of walking it in, it is getting better and I still prefer that my bunion is safe. Also, a good pair of socks definitely helped!

They come higher up my ankle than my previous pair, that has taken a little while to get used to, but I'm sure the extra ankle support is a good feature.

Absolute rubbish. If you are intending to do any sort of hill walking then don't buy these . Fit across foot was good, but you'd expect that from a company specializing in wider fit. However no padding around inside of ankle cuff . Seams cut thru skin on ankle bone within 5 mins of trying them on. Inferior quality materials used. Wouldn't last 5 minutes.

Fantastic that walking boots which accommodate my wide feet and my orthotics have made it into your range. I'd been hoping it would happen as my previous 20 year old pair have almost given up. I haven't worn the new ones for a full day yet, but they have been comfortable on my trial walks.

Just climbed Ben nevis in my new boots. Very comfy. A thicker sole and top three eyelets being changed to hooks would make them perfection for such activities but couldn't beat the comfort.
