Boots: Understanding Size, Foot Width and Wide Fit Boots

Wide and extra wide fitting boots can be a godsend for people with wide feet. Unlike standard high street boots, our boots offer the extra width and depth required for a comfortable fit for wide and extra wide feet, alongside many features designed to accommodate a variety of foot health issues, like arthritis, bunions, diabetes and lymphoedema, to name but a few. We know that wide and extra wide fit boots require different levels of support in the right places, and our clever designs ensure that you have the support and stability you need to remain keep you active through autumn, winter and beyond.

The importance of Foot Shape in wide-fitting boots

Whilst length and width are very important, they’re not the only factors at play. Amongst other things, foot shape plays a key role and most people have one of three common toe shapes: - Rounded - known as "Roman" - Square - known as "Egyptian" - Tapered - known as "Greek" When choosing your footwear, it is important to take your toe shape into account, as well as your size and fitting, to ensure ALL your toes have enough space. Pressure on your toes can cause bunions, hammer toes and many more serious problems. The ultimate comfort is achieved by taking all these factors into consideration. To accommodate different foot shapes, we offer wide-fitting boots in FOUR different toe shapes: 1. Square – Allows more room for your toes, particularly for people with square toe shape or with round or tapered feet who need the extra room 2. Round – Round toe shape and deep toe box gives plenty of room for your toes, especially for people with round toe shape but also for people with tapered feet who need the extra room 3. Almond toe – Shaped for comfort. Slightly pointed at the end for a stylish look, especially suited for people with tapered foot shape. 4. Asymmetric – Our asymmetric shoe shape is designed to follow the natural shape of your feet for a more comfortable fit. With an even wider toe area than you’ll find even in our round or square toed shoes.

Although we offer shoe styles with a pointed toe shape, we do not offer any boot styles in this shape.

Benefits of Choosing the Correct Width Boots for Wide Feet

Opening Quotes People think the only important thing about your shoe is how long it is. But it's not, it's about fitting you lengthwise and also over the width of your shoe. Close Quotes ~ Sara Davies MBE We all know that having the correct length footwear is important, but wearing the correct width is also vital. Wearing shoes and boots that are too narrow can cause rubbing and blisters, squeeze and pinch skin, and press toes together causing changes to the physiology of our feet. Wearing the correct width boots will not only help to alleviate these issues but will also bring with it a huge increase in the level of comfort you experience. Let’s face it, over the autumn and winter months, you might find you’re wearing your boots all day and, therefore, comfort is queen! One benefit of the correct width boots that might surprise you is that, if you’re wearing the wrong width of boot, you might also therefore find that you’ve been wearing the wrong length. We often hear from our customers that, when they move to our shoes and boots, they found they came down a half, full or even 2 full sizes! This is because they’ve been wearing shoes that are longer in order to get the width that they needed. Learn how to get the perfect fit for your feet >>
